U.S. attorney, Preet Bharara, was promptly fired by the Donald Trump administration after he publicly refused a request to hand in his resignation. Bharara, a high powered New York attorney who was tasked with investigating Anthony Weiner, was said to be “blindsided” by the pink slip, reported CNN.
Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions formally asked for the resignations of 46 US attorneys nominated by Trump predecessor, President Obama. In October, 2016, Bharara reportedly launched a joint U.S./F.B.I. Investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
Bharara, who was among those asked to leave despite meeting with Trump in November and being told he would stay on, had refused to step down. ‘I did not resign. Moments ago I was fired.
