ELKIN, NC. (THECOUNT) — Zachary Caleb Bobbitt has been identified as the victim in a collision Friday in Elkin, North Carolina.

Bobbitt, 18, was operating a vehicle on Elk Spur Street and Powers Lane, near the Elkins Family Worship Center, when for unknown reasons, he crossed centerlines and into opposing traffic, according to Elkin police.

Bobbitt’s vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle, reports MyFox8.

The elkin teen was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The name and condition of the other driver was not provided by officials.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
