CHAMPAIGN, IL. (THECOUNT) — Dehrone M. Hobbs has been identified as the victim found suffering from multiple gunshot injuries in Champaign Thursday morning.

Hobbs, 38, was shot to death in residence in the 800 block of Fairoaks Drive, in Champaign, IL, Thursday, according to officials.

Police responded to Fairoaks Drive on calls of shots fired around 4:40 a.m. Thursday.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim inside the home suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Hobbs was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates an unknown subject, or subjects, forced entry into the home and fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the scene, reports newschannel20.

At this time, there is no suspect information.

The investigation is ongoing.
