CLAYMONT, DE. (THECOUNT) — Nicholas Weaver, of Wilmington, DE, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in a Claymont collision early Friday morning.

Weaver, 38, was named by the Delaware State Police as the pedestrian who was killed in a collision that occurred at approximately 12:44 a.m., Friday, December 14, on Governor Printz Blvd. in the area of Hillside Rd., Claymont, according to police.

According to reports, a GMC Yukon, operated by Bruce C. Bryan, 42, of Chester, PA was traveling north of Hillside Rd, when he struck a Wilmington pedestrian.

Weaver was thrown into a grassy area on the side of the roadway.

It is unknown where the victim was standing when he was struck.

Weaver was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.

The GMC came to a controlled stop just south of the collision scene.

Police conducted a field sobriety test on Bryan, the GMC driver, and determined impairment.

“Evidence of impairment on his behalf was detected and he [Bryan] was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol,” a crash report noted. source
