MILWAUKEE, WI. (THECOUNT) — A 4-year-old girl is alive after being left in a vehicle towed to the City Of Milwaukee Tow Lot, located in Layton Park, WI, late Monday night, Milwaukee Public Works Commissioner-nominee Jeff Polenske said.

Police took the child’s guardian into custody near South 39th Street and West Forest Home Avenue on suspicion of drunk driving. At that time, a 10-month-old child was removed from the vehicle.

Officials then towed the vehicle to the city tow lot on the 3800 block of West Lincoln Avenue, but the second child in the vehicle was overlooked and found Tuesday morning.

“Apparently, the girl was very upset and crying, something that none of us would like to have happen to any of our children,” Polenske said. source

Temperatures overnight were in the teens with wind chills in the single digits.
