THOUSAND OAKS, CA. (THECOUNT) — At least 13 people, including a Ventura Police Sergeant, have been shot and killed inside the Borderline Bar & Grill, in Thousand Oaks, CA. The “Country” bar was crowded with hundreds of people on its weekly “college night,” authorities said.

Multiple other people were injured, according to Sheriff Geoff Dean of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. A sheriff’s sergeant responding to the scene was among those killed at the establishment located at, 99 Rolling Oaks Dr, Thousand Oaks, CA.

The shooter is also believed to dead, in addition to the 12 victims.

People inside the Borderline nightclub in Thousand Oaks—where a gunman opened fire late Wednesday night—were survivors of the Route 91 mass shooting in Las Vegas last year, according to their friends. Someone opened fire at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks around 11:20 p.m. PT, the Ventura County Star reported. The venue is described as a dance night club, KABC-TV reported, and was having a College Country Night on Wednesday. source

Officers said at least 30 shots had been fired, possibly from a single handgun.

Witnesses say the shooter, who committed suicide following the shooting, was wearing a trench coat and donning a black beard.
