PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT)Jennifer Clarey, of Tullytown, PA, has been identified as the suspect charged with criminal homicide after allegedly poisoning her 2-year-old son by placing narcotics in his sippy cup.

Clarey, 42, is accused of poisoning her son, Mazikeen Curtis, using two prescription medications. Lab tests later showed the boy’s sippy cup — which prosecutors stressed had a childproof lid — contained toxic levels of Vicodin. They say toxic levels of the drug were also found in the boy’s blood.

Bucks County authorities announced formal charges Tuesday against Clarey, alleging that she intentionally poisoned the toddler.

Police arrived at the home in Tullytown on Aug. 25 to conduct a wellness check on the toddler and found his body on a bed, according to a criminal complaint obtained by Philly.com. “The child showed no signs of life, was stiff and cold to the touch,” the complaint reads. source

Investigators said Clarey had self-inflicted wounds to her wrists at the time she was taken in custody.

A knife and a razor blade coated with blood were later recovered inside the home, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors say Clarey has been arraigned on a no-bail order.
