According to an incident report, Lamberti started swimming when North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety attempted to intervene Monday night around 7:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, police say Lamberti had already completed half of his journey and was standing aboard a parasailing boat.
Officers say they launched a jet ski, boat, and two swimmers in an attempt to help Lamberti, but instead of waiting for assistance, he dove in and handily completed the second half of the dare.
Lamberti ended up swimming back on his own, the report shows. source
At the time of the incident, first responders reported that Lamberti had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, his speech was slurred, and he was “grossly intoxicated in public.”
After declining medical treatment, Lamberti was arrested and taken to North Myrtle Beach jail.
