A San Antonio city employee is clinging to life in an area hospital after becoming impaled by a cemetery fence pole Sunday afternoon.
The man, who has not yet been named, crashed his work truck after experiencing a possible medical event, say authorities.

The worker, in his mid to late 20s, is said to have driven through at least 50 feet of fencing before coming to a rest at the San Fernando Cemetery 2, said authorities.
Witnesses said the driver veered off the road and plowed through a 50-foot stretch of cemetery chain link fencing before coming to an abrupt stop.
A photo from the crash scene shows what seems to be an 8-foot fence pole sticking out of the truck’s front grill. The other end appears to have entered the cab of the vehicle, impaled the driver, and continued out the rear window.
The pole “went through the driver’s neck and out of the back window,” reportsKSAT.
EMS responders used saws to cut away a portion of the fence pole in an effort to free the man. He was then transported an area hospital with the pole still impaled in his neck.
The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
