Storm Causes Mass Nuke Plant Emergency Shutdown

We all learned from the nuclear plant accident in Japan that, no matter what, you must keep the core cool, but what happens if the off-site power used to cool the core ceases to exists? Pilgrim automatically shut down after losing offsite power at 9:17 p.m. on Friday. The plant’s diesel generators are currently supplying power to plant equipment.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is monitoring the power plant.

This is a crazy storm! The blowing sand mixed with the snow is making the usually fluffy stuff look and feel just like concrete!
