Yesterday, two chimpanzees escaped from their cages in a backyard, and ran a muck through a neighborhood near the 5700 block of Rowland Ave in North Las Vegas area.

The chimps were said to have escaped from their cages, and as soon as they had a taste of real freedom, that’s when they went wild. The two teamed up and started running through yards, jumping up and down on cars- one being a police car, and one even jumped into an empty black sport utility vehicle.

One woman who witnessed the chimps, called 911 as one of the chimps was jumping on top her car while she was sitting at a stop sign.

The chimps were on the loose for about 30 minutes, until cops gave up on the primate of 150 pounds and his female pal. Cops shot a dart into the female, filled with a tranquilizer, and as for the male, he was sadly shot and killed when the tranquilizer did not work.

Las Vegas Police are catching heat today from animal activists who are angry about the chimp’s death. But the Las Vegas Police claimed that the situation got ‘too dangerous’, leaving them no choice but to put one to temporary sleep, and put the other to sleep forever.

Associated Press says that Police even ‘did their part’ and “warned residents through Twitter not to leave their vehicles or homes and to avoid the area where the dangerous primates were roaming free,” but that wasn’t enough because surely everyone in that neighborhood did not get the memo on Twitter.
