I was very lucky to be able to go to the concert at the “Rathskeller” in Indianapolis on Thursday, July 1.  One of my favorite bands named “Carney” was passing thru Indy on their way to Grant Park in Chicago!  I usually tell everyone they are a little cross between The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

I almost missed them since Interscope Records who they are signed with, mistakenly forgot to put it on their website!  Yes, there are fans in Indy that care about seeing the band!

I got my sister to go with me this time and I was anticipating all day for this show.  I saw Carney 2 yrs ago in Indy and was totally a fan after that!  I have followed them on their tours (literally) and other venues that Carney was in.  They are based out of L.A. and toured with “The Veronicas” last year.  This spring, they toured with “Athlete”.

Their big “MTVu” video– “Love me, Chase me”, was #1 this past winter.  (This MTV station is mainly played on college campuses).  It so happened that Evan Rachel Wood was featured in this video.  *I introduced Carney to you a while back, and many of you had never heard of them, but like I said then…don’t forget this band!!

They started their show after the “Paul Holdman Band”.  There is an outdoor time limit/curfew during the week and on weekends since it is in the Massachusetts Ave area of downtown Indy and sits in the middle of apartments & townhouses (A very artsy area).  I was a little sad that they didn’t get to play one of my favs “Love me, Chase me” but was glad to hear “Mr. Green” and “I Will Testify” along with “Amelie”.  They do a great version of the Beatle’s song “I Want You, You’re so Heavy” which was so awesome and right on.

Exclusive!!!:
I got a chance to chat with Reeve & Zane Carney after the show.  Reeve has been cast as Peter Parker in the Broadway musical “SPIDERMAN/TURN OFF THE DARK” which begins rehearsal this Fall.  This will be directed by Julie Taymor, who also did the film “Across the Universe”.  The musical features music by U2′s Bono & Edge.Taymor decided to cast Reeve in Spiderman after directing him in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” which he plays Ferdinand.  Evan Rachel Wood was set to play Mary Jane Watson, but has recently dropped out because of scheduling conflicts.

Zane Carney (who told us that his all time favorite guitar player was from Indianapolis, Wes Montgomery), along with Jon Epcar (drums) and Aiden Moore (bass) from the band Carney, will move to New York City along with Reeve Carney and they will be in the orchestra for the Spiderman musical.

It is expected to debut in the late Fall or Winter.  I am hoping that the musical will be a hit and will also tour the U.S. too!

I asked the brothers what it was like working with Evan Rachel Wood and they both had nothing but good things to say about her. These guys are some of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.

By the way, they do have a debut album “Mr. Green: Vol.1”.  It is being played across the U.S. on select radio stations.  It is also available online – see links on their website.

I love Mr. Green , which I recorded a little of  WATCH IT HERE . Please be reminded that I have an inexpensive digital camera that I took the video with!!    They are all excellent musicians.  Best wishes to Zane Carney who was not able to sing after healing from some throat issues.  I do think he is one of the best guitar players around!  Reeve is right along there with him, but Reeve’s singing is mesmerizing.  I can’t wait to see what he will do in the Broadway musical Spiderman.  By the way, he was selected by Entertainment Weekly this spring as one of the 10 rising stars to watch this year. Exciting!

I sure hope everyone will love some CARNEY, too!!
