The X Prize Foundation announced today that it will begin soliciting ideas for plugging the oil well that is leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. The best idea will win a huge amount of money…

The X Prize Foundation is a group of smart, cool and rich people that award people like inventors, who make the world a better place! Check them out, they are so progressive!

At the “TEDxOilSpill” conference today in Washington, D.C., X Prize Foundation Vice President of Prize Development, Francis Béland, said the group was looking at the possibility of launching a competition aimed at putting an end to the disaster.

Francis said, “I want to clarify that while at TEDxOilSpill we have not launched a new $10 Million X PRIZE or Challenge for the oil spill clean up. However, we are in the process of developing a multi-million dollar competition to help alleviate the effects of the oil spill in the Gulf.”

The foundation also wrote that the competition will recognize the development of rapidly deployable methods that clean up crude oil on coastlines and in oceans.

X Prize rules! You get an award and get your invention created if they like it!

I have a friend that has a plan on how to stop the oil spill and wants me to find out who he can talk to. He doesn’t have a computer so I am trying to find out where to go to find this info I need. Is there anyone who can help me.
