    Miley Cyrus on pole

As I reported already, Miley Cyrus’ Teen Choice Awards stripper pole dance was inappropriate. I don’t mean to sound like a prude adult, but a 16 yr. old mega star shouldn’t set an example like this for elementary age kids. As we know, she is looked up to by younger kids. Half of her fans are probably still in training pants! I can just see little kids trying to dance around objects that resemble a pole. “Mommy look at me! I’m like Miley now!”

‘Amateur’ and ‘immature’ she is. I never want to come down on Miley because she is young, and young can mean ‘dumb’. Young people make mistakes and I can’t take this too, too seriously.

This performance that Miley put together for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards was apparently her BIG idea. Who is letting a 16 yr old have reign over a nationally syndicated teenage awards show? Where are the parents? Where are the adults?

Before the show, Miley told MTV news about what her performance means as an “artist”. Miley said she ‘wanted the whole thing to be a spoof on growing up in Tennessee’, adding that “it’s about my roots.”

“[My] performance tonight is funny, but I wanted it to be about [something more],” she said. “I’m like, ‘This is to represent where I am from. I’m so proud of it.’ All the girls trying to be Hollywood and stuff with their big glasses, me shooing them away.”

Definition of “Amateur”: One lacking in experience and competence in an art or science.

Considering Britney Spears is her hero, and someone she looks up to as performer, maybe she picked up the pole moves from senior! You saw Britney’s “Gimmie More” video right? Britney dances on a stripper pole the entire time. The difference is that Britney was 26-not 16. Is Britney to blame for being the beginning bad role model?

Britney was a Disney kid just as Miley is. Is there some responsibility that Disney should hold for this performance? Disney doesn’t think they are responsible. They actually made a statement that they are ‘not responsible’.

A spokeswoman from Disney told Newsday this: “Disney Channel won’t be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience – kids 6-14 – and consistent with what our brand values are.”

This doesn’t make her dad Billy Ray Cyrus look like a great parent. It makes him look like a bad puppeteer.

    SAVE MILEY!
