Chris Brown manned-up today and apologized in a video taped message to the world. Brown basically is begging for our forgiveness. We all know that Brown messed up big time but is it time for us to forgive him?
Trust me, I was most vocal in my disgust over what Brown did that fateful night, however, after viewing his video apology, it got me to thinking, maybe it’s time to show some understanding.
He beat up on a girl, and has been convicted of that. Brown will pay for his mistake and maybe not as severe a penalty as some thought Brown deserved but if you include the damage he has suffered to his career and to his reputation, then, the penalty is immeasurable.
I by no means am saying we should forget what Brown did, I don’t think the world will ever forget, but simply forgive. He is after all a very talented kid who worked very hard at his craft to deliver some quality music to the world.
There is no excuse for what Brown did. He messed up that night. He lost it. Have you ever lost it? Maybe you did not go as crazy as Brown did that night, but did you yell so loud you scared yourself? Scared your family or friends? If you never did then good for you, but I’m sure a lot of us can relate in some way.
Tonight I decided to forgive Chris Brown and I admit it was after seeing his video apology. What I saw was a kid who seemed genuinely sorry for his actions and a kid who has paid a great price for his mistake. I made a decision to man-up like Chris did by being a big enough man to forgive him.
