Mischa Barton
The O.C. star Mischa Barton has been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold by the LAPD after an incident at her house yesterday proved the actress was a danger to herself or others, multiple sources are saying. The police were called to her house yesterday and the department confirmed they transported her to a hospital. Now sources are reporting the actress is being held at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for up to 72 hours.
No official reason has been given for the starlet’s hospital stay.
An involuntary psychiatric hold (also commonly known as a “5150″) is permitted when someone presents an immediate danger to themselves or others. Remember when Britney Spears was taken to the hospital last year during her mental breakdown? That was a 5150, seeing as she could no longer care for herself and was bound to harm somebody. While we don’t know what exactly is going on with Barton, we can assume that she is undergoing some serious issues.
The actress was expected to attend a world premiere of her new film, Homecoming, but will now not make it. Her reps are saying nothing else about her condition or medical leave.
