We Thought He’d Live Forever: I Love Michael Jackson

by Lisa Mason Lee on July 1, 2009

An open letter to everyone who loved Michael Jackson:

I’d like to begin saying that I need to get my feelings out about Michael Jackson’s passing. You may agree or disagree with what I am going to say but it’s my opinion. You are entitled to your own opinion as well.

I have been crying all week. Every day has been gloomy inside and that is very unlike me. I am a very positive and happy person, but Michael Jackson’s unexpected death has hit me like a bus. I didn’t know how much of an impact Michael Jackson the man, humanitarian and performer, has had on my life and MANY other peoples’. I have had a concoction of sad and joyful feelings on his passing. I have taken a time machine back into my childhood, and at the same time, a peek into my future.

For me, as a dancer, performer and entertainer, Michael gave me the tools to become what I am. I will give credit to his sister Janet Jackson and credit to Paula Abdul and Madonna as well. :)

I remember growing up in the 80′s watching his videos and video-movies on MTV. I clearly remember Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Bad, Beat It, Leave Me Alone, Billie Jean, Black and White, In the Closet, Remember the Time, Jam and Scream. I always loved watching his videos as a child and even til now! The moonwalk was done numerous times at our Lee family get togethers. My cousin got a red leather jacket like Michael’s. Me and the other kids were wearing gloves around the house. Michael’s influence was huge in my world. Every Halloween was a “Thriller.” MJ is an icon to me.

For me, Michael made me understand the gap in races. He made me see that we are all one, even though our skin colors or physicality may differ. His video “Black and White” was majorly popular on MTV. It made the young and maybe even the older people realize that color and ethnicity DOES NOT MATTER. ‘If we could all get past the looks and color, then we would be happier’. He taught us not to judge one another. To think in the mindset as if you are still a child. Children do not know about racial divides until their parents tell them whatever it may be. If the child’s parents are like Michael, the child would then grow up without judgment.

I have been watching all of the VH1 and CNN MJ specials. The videos flood back my childhood memories and feelings. The TV stations have been showing old footage of him through the good and bad. Last night, NBC showed an unnecessary interview with Michael from 2003. Good ratings the network sure got, but not all good feelings for the audience.  Host Martin Bashir, asked Michael irritating questions about his childhood and plastic surgery. Bashir hounded MJ for the answers! He made MJ feel uncomfortable and upset. The interview was exciting to see inside the Neverland Ranch, but towards the end, MJ hated it.

See, Michael was not a ‘minimal’ type of person. Everything Michael did was always on a large scale. He did big things. Being asked little questions and getting his looks picked at, was not something that Michael wanted to participate in. Michael was free of racism and judgment, so to put him in a position where he is analyzed, has never been a success. Accept he has always been magic. Michael was super human. You can’t expect super human people to do small scale/minuet things. Michael raised millions for AIDS funds. Michael brought all walks of life together. Michael befriended huge celebs from Elizabeth Taylor to Justin Timberlake! His list of friends and fans range from Asian to Mexican to British. My Mom Nancy even grew up with MJ and the Jackson 5 singing ABC 123! You don’t ask a magician how they did their trick.

The turnout for MJ gatherings and vigils has been extraordinary. Can you believe the out pour of people who loved him so? He has touched so many peoples’ lives. He has influenced people on a major world scale. I can sure feel the power! It is so wonderful to see people celebrating his life by making signs, playing his music, wearing his memorabilia and just paying respect at his many landmarks. (I do not appreciate the people that have been kicking him down since he has passed)

I love him so, and we got word today that his showing is at Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara this Friday. We have been looking into hotels and traveling arrangements to make it, but it might be impossible. Hotels are expensive and so many things are happening this 4th of July weekend. We are still considering it. We think there should be a memorial/gathering in Hollywood like they just had today at the “Apollo” in New York. If you know of one, let us know!

Some of these shows like Anderson Cooper on CNN, show the good and bad about Michael. The topic on his show tonight is about what prescriptions/medications MJ may have been taking. On and on and on. It’s not like Michael was strung, because he had been practicing for his “This Is It” tour. There will be video released of him very soon showing him practicing the night before his death. Then we can judge just how well he looked. As a dancer, I know the kind of ‘high impact’ dancing that MJ was doing for the tour, and it would no way allow room for substance abuse.

Oh, now the questions are “Are Michael’s kids really from his sperm?” “Who will have custody of MJ’s kids?” All Michael wanted was for his kids to stay low out of the spotlight. They are the big talk now. It looks as if Michael’s Mom Katherine may get custody of the 3 children as he wanted. NO JOE. Does it matter where the kids came from? Why would it? As long as Michael took great care of them and loved them, which he did.

It sure was wonderful that his sister Janet and father Joe made appearances at the BET Awards.

Does all the aftermath and hoopla about MJ’s money, children, drugs and debt matter? No

Michael is passing on free. Free without physical and material possessions. He has a special place prepared for him. Michael is finally free. Thinking of him free, makes me happy.

When souls depart who carry significant amounts of energy, their sudden absence can be greatly felt, and what they leave behind creates a ripple effect as it migrates and dissipates out for the entire planet to embrace and now embody in a more evenly distributed way.
Michael Jackson, perhaps the most talented performer of all time, embodied a massive amount of higher level energy. He was extremely connected to a higher level and to “the other side.” He was unmistakably a bridge; bringing this higher level energy into form and then giving it out to the masses. Remembering oh so well what the “other side” was like, he, like others, found it extremely difficult to exist within and understand the strange and many times darker energies that were on the planet while he was here.
So then, he embodied massive amounts of energy relating to the other side and bringing it here. In this way, he suddenly departed precisely around the time we experienced the solstice of June 21, because it was now time to dissipate that energy to the planet. He has now given us this energy to embody ourselves. He no longer needed to hold so much of it himself, as the shift of the solstice created this new connection for the planet to now experience on its own. -Karen Bishop

Hang in there everyone! Never forget the wonderful lessons Michael taught us. We now know more than ever, the message Michael has been relaying all along. Work from love and peace. Treat everyone equal. Don’t be afraid, be yourself.

Here’s a wonderful comment we just received from one of our readers! Thank you Oscar!
