Is this a joke? Hollyscoop reports that singer Katy Perry is suing a designer named ‘Katie Perry’ because Katy Perry the singer thinks she should have all rights and money to the name.
Katie Perry from Australia has been in the business of fashion for over two years. That’s a whole year longer than anyone knew about Katy Perry the singer. So you can imagine how shocked she was when she got a letter from Perry’s lawyers asking her to change her name and drop her business.
Katie [the designer] says, “I got such a huge shock. It really felt like I was being intimidated and bullied into signing everything away.
“(The letter) asked me to give up the trademark, withdraw sale of my clothes, withdraw any advertising and any websites, and sign that I will not in the future use a similar trademark to Katy Perry. I pretty much burst into tears.
“I love my business. I’m not going to give it away without a fight either. I’m not trying to become a singer. I’m not pretending to be her. “This is my income. And it’s the livelihood of my contractors as well.”
Kat(ie) Perry the designer isn’t even spelled like Kat(y) Perry the singer.

There is something very fishy going on here. I hope she is not doing this because she wants to start a clothing line in australia. We’re not too keen on sushi underwear.
