We’re getting down to the top 5 on American Idol!!! Who’s it going to be? It’s up to you America¦specifically all of you losers who actually vote in! Just kiddn¦ but the number of people who watch but don’t vote until the finale is higher than we think. So vote! Make it count! I wonder if the map of voters is concentrated in particular cities only- and a few random places like the outhouse on route 59 in Kentucky? The haunted ghost town in Albequerque New Mexico? That would be an interesting research job. Anyways I digress¦ tonight it was “Rat Pack” night¦with Jamie Foxx as the mentor. I’m not sure why they have “mentors” more than practice listeners. They don’t say much except a range of responses from “That was amazing” to “Hey pretty good”.
Kris Allen is really surprising everyone with consistent hotness on stage. He really went from “slightly retarded Jason Mraz” to his own person. I like it. He sang “The Way You Look Tonight” which is one of those songs that can either be boring and overdone or reminiscent of your high school prom in the 80’s. (Or was it 90’s?? I forget). He did a great job and everyone praised him. Randy thought it was his best vocal to date. I still think last weeks was his best performance.
Allison Iraheta, who just turned 17, sang “Someone To Watch Over Me” and this song was one of her first real ballads on the Idol stage. Kara commented after that it was spectacular and she was hoping her try at a ballad would be this good. Really…no joke… she was pretty damn good. Simon piped in and thought she may be in trouble. Why? I think Simon is on to something because Allison is cool, cute, and a REALLY GOOD singer. She’ll be snatched up anyways¦.but she doesn’t have the heart strings of America in quite the same way that Adam and Danny do. Kris may even be in a slight bit of trouble as well.
Matt Giraud sang “My Funny Valentine”. I was a huge Matt fan for a while and this song was not his winning piece. The judges thought it was good but not the best showcase of his talent either. Poor Matt¦he’s probably gone by tomorrow evening. I think with a bit more time and a great song for his voice he can really nail something hot on the radio. Let’s hope he get’s the chance in the future.
Danny Gokey is a singer that we all know is spectacular but he’s been doing sub-par performances with not a whole lot in the climax department. He can belt like NO ONE ELSE yet he’s barely stretching his talent. He sang, “Come Rain or Come Shine” and did a phenomenal job. He went up in his register and really gave you goose bumps. To be honest, I still thought he could do a bit better but the judges were really proud of him. I think this was just a glimpse of how great he’s going to be on the finale¦.IF.
Adam Lambert get’s up and does his rendition of “Feelin Good”- which I thought he already sang in a previous episode but I guess not. He did his usual theatrical performance but added a 60-90 second one note ending that blew me away. Judges like him because he knows what he wants and he’s here to win despite having a bit of a theatrical edge. He really does rival Danny for the best voice in the group.
All together I think this will be a GREAT finale but I’m worried that if it’s Gokey against Lambert- Danny will really need to pick up his creative edge. He needs to rival Lambert on creativity, originality and those high theatrical moments. Come on Danny!! You deserve the win!! Either way..im excited for the results!

Danny is okay , but Adam is a whole lot better and Danny knows it. He even said he was trying to copy some one else , but didn’t want to say who. We all know it is Adam Lambert because he clearly is the BEST…
