No way, WAY! Joe Jonas disrespects Asians Miley Cyrus Style. In this undated photo, Joe Jonas is doing the unthinkable for a nice Disney star, mocking Asians by pulling his eyes backward. I know that kids sometimes do this face, there is a chance you did this face on the playground when you were a kid and meant absolutely no harm by it, however, it is NOT ok to do it in pictures, especially when you’re famous. Let’s face it, it’s uncool to hurt people’s feelings and this face hurts some Asian people’s feelings.

      1. Agreed. But it does make it a lot worse when you’re supposed to be a role model, t’is all.
      2. I don’t think he was rubbing his eyes since it seems pretty clear that he’s using his pinkies to pull back the corner of his eyes.
      3. I don’t understand what you mean by Asian women getting plastic surgery to make their eyes look more Caucasian. If you’re referring to double eyelids, you are gravely mistaken–Asians have double eyelids too. I’m a full-blood Asian girl with double eyelids. I know plenty of other Asians that have them too, just some aren’t as pronounced as others. Laurie is not disrespecting Americans with the accent because he’s being paid to play the part of an American doctor. The difference between what Joe is doing (or rather, what we’re assuming he’s doing) and those two other examples you gave are the intention of the actions. While I myself do not find that picture offensive, some people may see it as Joe mocking Asians and their eye size. It’s one of those PC things that people worry about, and I think that’s the point the writer was trying to make. I don’t think he’s implying that Asians are pussies. ^^;

      1. Whether or not someone is famous or whether or not they are being photographed does not make a difference towards whether or not something is disrespectful.

      2. This could very well be a picture of him rubbing his eyes, and in fact, it looks more like that.

      3. If making your eyes look Asian is disrespectful, what are you to say to the Asian women who get plastic surgery to make their eyes look more Caucasian? How is this at all disrespectful even if he is trying to look Asian? Is Hugh Laurie disrespecting Americans by doing an American accent for House?

      And how can you say that this is disrespectful to Asians? Do you even have any evidence of that or are you just assuming that Asians are as big of pussies are you are? What’s disrespectful to Asians? Speaking for the feelings of 3.8 billion people.
