When I photographed Josh Brolin at the D&G Store Launch I knew that he had probably ramped-up his press machine. What was this leading man of several recent major motion pictures doing walking this red carpet?

Word is, many stars invited received a VERY nice gift from D&G to encourage them to show. Lindsay Lohan took her gift and stayed home to play on the Internet, maybe Brolin should have done the same thing. Let’s face it, this works fine for press hungry types like the kids from 90210 and socialite, Paris Hilton. But did Brolin really need to show up?

[singlepic id=359 w=320 h=240 float=left]Did he really he really need a free ill-fitting suit in exchange for gracing the carpet at D&G’s new store launch?

Soon after this I started seeing Brolin more and more in the press. In my opinion, Brolin is one of those ‘cool’ actors who could do no press at all and still land great acting rolls. I never expect to see him doing cheesy press, however, maybe I was wrong.

I think Josh should consider a PR Firm change. He is already getting booked for leading roles with the finest directors on the planet, so why go and do a bunch of photo-opps usually reserved for up-and-coming actors? And now, reports are Brolin has committed him self to Netflix, as an honorary chairperson for their new film competition.

Would Luellen, Brolin’s “Old Country For Old Men” character judge a talent contest? I don’t think so.

The same guy who received critical acclaim for his portrayal of George W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s “W.,” is now an honorary chairman of short film contest. Something is just not right with this picture.

I’m sure Brolin’s ‘people’ will say his work with directors, such as, Robert Rodriguez, brothers Ethan and Joel Coen, and Gus Van Sant, who all got their got their start working on small-budget, independent films, is simply lending his time to “give hope to aspiring filmmakers.” Matter of fact, that’s exactly what they said.

“What these guys are doing is giving somebody an opportunity to make a film,” is what Brolin said. Well I say, it’s all about the machine, and if Brolin knows what best for him he better get to fixing his machine, hell, it wasn’t broke in the first place.
